There are many ways to eat Chinese chestnuts, raw or cooked, which can be used to make cakes, or to add Chinese chestnuts when cooking. Chestnuts can be stored when they are ripe, so that they can be eaten when they want to eat later. If they are not stored properly, they may deteriorate. The storage method of Chinese chestnut is introduced below.

      1. Air drying preservation: The chestnuts are immersed in a cold water bucket, and the water overflows the chestnuts. After being soaked for 7~10 days, they are taken out and put in a bamboo basket, which is hung high in the ventilated place for natural air drying. In this way, the shelf life of chestnut can be greatly improved if it is allowed to air dry. Soak chestnuts in water for three to seven days, which can effectively kill bacteria and insect eggs, and then pull them out to drip dry, and then save them. If you add a small amount of bleach (5/10000 is enough), the effect will be better.

  2. Ventilated storage: Place fresh chestnuts in a cool and ventilated place, spread them out, and do not stack them. As long as the ventilation of chestnuts is ensured, it is no problem to store them for a month or two.

  3. Air drying in cloth bags: spread out the fresh chestnuts with containers, air them in a cool and ventilated place for 2-3 days, and then put them into cloth bags. The cloth bags have good air permeability, and plastic bags are not allowed. Lift it in a cool and ventilated place, shake and hit it once or twice a day. This method can generally keep Chinese chestnut for 4 months.

  4. Refrigeration storage: put fresh chestnuts in the sun for about a day, then peel off the shells, put them in a fresh-keeping bag, tie the mouth and put them in the refrigerator for refrigeration. This can also improve the storage time, but it should be noted that chestnuts must be preserved without shells.

Another method can also be used: add 1 teaspoon of salt in cold boiled water, soak Chinese chestnut for 3-5 minutes, and carry out simple sterilization. After soaking, rinse it with cold boiled water and dry it for 1-2 days. Chestnuts will make a noise when shaking, so they can be packed in plastic bags, tied tightly, and stored in the refrigerator. This method can store Chinese chestnut for more than a month, and the processed Chinese chestnut is sweet and crisp.

  5. Mixed storage of wood chips: Mix fresh chestnuts with wood chips, and remember to cover the top layer with some wood chips. Put them in a cool and ventilated place for storage. In this way, they can also be stored for a period of time.

  6. Sand burial method: A large number of chestnuts can be buried in sand. Put the sand into the container, spread a layer of sand on the bottom, and put a layer of Chinese chestnut on the sand. Then cover it with a layer of sand. After covering the sand, put another layer of chestnut, and so on. After putting the chestnut, add a layer of sand at last. Spray water every once in a while to keep the sand moist. The amount of water spraying should be moderate. In order to preserve the water content of the chestnut, this is the reason why the chestnut is separated by sand. However, too much water should not be too much, which will cause the chestnut to rot.
